Accelerating the Mobility Network

Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) have made a considerable impact to enterprise and healthcare organizations in terms of increased productivity, lower costs, greater application performance over mobility devices, and increased user satisfaction. Advances in wireless networking technology also provide new opportunities to extend coverage areas and increase productivity, but may require an upgrade of equipment and tuning / repositioning of access points for optimal coverage and security.

Greater demand by end users for content-rich applications places pressure on networks as companies produce significantly more content for internal and external use such as video/audio files, employee training & tutorials. Users want to connect freely to applications around an office or campus which dictates that enterprises enhance or upgrade wireless LANs to support true pervasive mobility.

A mobility network offers pervasive, reliable and secure access to information from different mobile computing devices to increase user productivity and reduce overall costs of network maintenance.

Motion Mobility Services is a suite of services designed to optimize any wireless network deployment to ensure wireless users can utilize mobile devices their jobs require whenever and wherever they are within the building or campus.

"We chose Motion to help us understand the use of the tablet devices and implement our wireless plan so that we had the best connectivity possible. We recognized significant improvements by doing testing along-side Motion to dial-in specific location of access points and channels to avoid interference with other devices. Their expertise positioned Lowell to be successful with a hospital-wide wireless project and made implementation go smoothly."

Service Description
Mobility Readiness Assessment Network rating based on a set of measurements taken on-site by a Motion Systems Consultant that estimates a network’s ability to support ultra-lightweight, low-power mobility devices, such as tablet PCs.
Wireless Site Survey, Design & Validation Detailed wireless survey, analysis, design & recommendation for wireless network capable of supporting mixed environment of low-power mobility devices, such as tablet PCs and RFID tags. Optimize controllers for data rates & modulation.
Application Pathway & Packet Analysis Testing a specific application from client computing device to the application server, including comparisons of traffic data with industry benchmarks.
Physical Network Inspection Comprehensive wireless network analysis through testing of all physical network components (access points, Power-of-Ethernet (PoE) injectors, wiring, etc.).

Benefits

  • Performance – greater coverage areas, increased network throughput, faster application response, and networks that are optimized for mobility devices.
  • Productivity – users experience less downtime, less disruption in workflow, less frustration as a result of dropped connections, which results in less impact on IT.
  • Security – optimized to reduce password challenges, less risk of data loss, ensure right users access the right information.
  • Reliability – less disconnects, more expansive reach, consistent throughput.

Wireless Solutions: Intel Mobile Point of Care (MPOC) Acceleration Program

An Opportunity to Learn, Assess, Try, and Buy: In a clinical setting, everything moves. Data must move too, in order to break bottlenecks and enable informed decision-making when and where it’s needed. Time/motion studies reveal just how much time is wasted moving back and forth to fixed workstations. By connecting people and information at the point of care, you can transform your efficiency and responsiveness to patients. Intel can help...
