Doctors and nurses were trained on basic Tablet PC functionality and now have a better understanding of how to integrate the unique features of Motion Tablet PCs into their healthcare environment.
According to Allana Cummings, Vice President and CIO of Children’s Hospital Omaha, the response to Motion Tablet PCs in their healthcare environment has been extremely positive. Here’s what she had to say:
“Motion Training Services provided our team members with not only detailed instructions on the tablet's functionality and features but also real-life examples of how to obtain optimal benefits from the use of the tablets in their daily workflow. The practical tips and suggestions have really enhanced our physicians' and clinicians' experiences with the tool and our electronic medical record system.”
Motion Training Services successfully transitioned 110 clinicians from laptops to Motion Tablet PCs, enabling them to use innovative technology during their patient home visits. These clinicians immediately implemented the use Speak Anywhere speech recognition and the digital pen and handwriting recognition into their work environment, allowing them to directly enter patient information and notes into their EMR applications at the point of care.
Here’s what Debby Ramundo, the Senior Project Manager for Swedish Home Care, had to say:
“The Motion training was a great investment for our implementation. The instructors and program were well organized and developed so that all levels of students could gain maximum benefit. We were able to take away the laptops of 110 clinicians, have them spend 4 hours in class and leave on their new tablets, going immediately to a patient’s home. They were comfortable with the new technology and we experienced a high degree of success and satisfaction.”
Teachers were trained on basic Tablet PC functions in April 2005 and were using their Motion Tablet PCs at the start of the 2005-2006 school year. According to Scott Muri, CHS’s assistant principal, the teacher’s response to the Tablets has been overwhelmingly positive. Here’s what a few of the teachers at CHS had to say:
“In addition to drawing on presentations and lessons with the tablet’s pen, I enjoy being able to type notes using the Bluetooth keyboard. I usually set my tablet up with an LCD projector and then take the keyboard out into the classroom and sit with the students. They seem to enjoy it and feel like they are a part of running the class.”

“I’ve really enjoyed the tablet PC because it’s interactive and mobile. It’s made a big difference in the way my kids learn. They’re more engaged and attentive because of this new and different technology.”

Weyerhaeuser IT staff and early adopters were educated on the unique Tablet PC features and functions and how the Motion Tablet PC could be incorporated into their day-to-day work environment. Tablet PC support and deployment training for the Weyerhaeuser IT staff was delivered both on-site and by using a web-based e-learning delivery methodology. Here’s what the Weyerhaeuser Motion Tablet PC users had to say:
“The Tablet PC fundamental training was very useful, filled in gaps for usability.
Thought training was great despite the veteran use of tablets. Found the training to be wonderful and I consider myself to be very knowledgeable – a couple of things I wouldn’t have even tried because I didn’t’ think they were even possible.”

“Instructor was effective in teaching the new features. Hands on training made a difference”
